Play Safe at the River Murray
April 1, 2010Easter is a fantastic time to visit the River Murray. If you are visiting the River Murray between Lock 1 (at Blanchetown) and Wellington, please be vigilant for the potential signs of riverbank collapse.
Riverbank collapses are dangerous and can happen quickly, so be vigilant to the signs of potential collapse, including:
• Cracking on the riverbank
• Leaning trees
• Bubbles in the water near the riverbank
Locations that have already been identified as high risk have been sign-posted and in some areas fenced off from public access. But other, unfenced areas may also be at risk, so be alert for the signs of potential collapse.
We want you, your friends, family and visitors to the region to continue to enjoy the river and all it has to offer, while being mindful of how to stay safe.
Call the free-call 24-hour Riverbank Collapse Hotline (1800 751 970) to report new cracking, or for further information. There is also information online at
