Sail Number Cull 2011-12
July 16, 2011As mentioned on the AWA website, “If a number registrant fails to appear on the ‘AWA member list’ for 2 consecutive financial years (July-June), the number may be made available to someone else.”
363 numbers fell into that category @ 01/07/2011.
For further details on who’s affected and which numbers,

Thanks for letting us know. Shouldn’t there be some way of contacting current sail number owners before transferring their rights?
I’ve used my number since at least 1985 (KA77) and have never been approached to be on any AWA list or update my registration. I do recall a conversation with Bill Joselin about ten years ago regarding new numbers coming in, but was assured my number would remain mine.
Any further information would be appreciated.
cheers

Point 1: We rely on the States to keep in touch with sailors. The older sailnumber registrant info is missing current email addresses if they even have them.
Point 2: You havn’t been a member since pre-2005. Since then, the right to permanently own a number has been revoked. Your number is still in the register, and not reassigned – but, we are not displaying non-AUS numbers on the AWA website (and non-AUS numbers will not be issued/transferred).
