Camp AmericaCamps are coming down under and they want to speak with you! Applications are now being accepted for the Camp America 9 week summer camp programme in the US

In January 2010 Camp America will be be holding events around Australia giving you the opportunity to meet the camps in person and possibly finalise your placement on the spot! 

Each year they send around 10,000 people from 40 countries to participate in this great international opportunity. Places are available in over 100 different activity areas. Windsurfing is in high demand!

Summer Camp program in America

CCUSACCUSA is the leader in Australia for the Summer Camp program in America. Sending 1400 Australians each year on this program alone, it’s very rare that someone does not know a friend or family member that’s done this program.

Although applications are open from October to March, now is the time to apply. CCUSA is very proud to be bringing to Australia approximately 35 Camp Directors to interview participants and offer jobs “On the Day”. You walk in and hopefully walk out knowing exactly where you’re going and when. With 95% of participants who go to these events obtaining a job, it’s a perfect opportunity!

We are looking at filling positions in a huge array of activities including (but not limited to);

  • Waterfront: Lifeguards, Sailing, Swim Instruction, Windsurfing, Waterskiing
  • Land Sports: Archery, Fitness Instructors, Golf, Gymnastics, Tennis, Skateboarding
  • Outdoor Skills/Adventure: Backpacking, Camping, Horse Riding, Mt Biking, Rock climbing, Ropes Course.
  • Performing Arts: Circus, Dance, Magic, Music, Theatre, Video Production.
  • Arts & Crafts: Ceramics, Leather Work, Pottery, Screen Printing, Tie-Dying, Wood-work

State Wavesailing Titles

Hi everyone – the Wave Titles will be at
Middleton on Sunday, Sep 6th 2009.

Expected conditions: 20-30knt wnw with 2-3 ft swell
estimating 20-25 competitors in open and social divisions.

“Looking forward to some good sailing – if your in this neck of the woods drop in and have  a chat with the crew and families – should be a good event.”

“Sausage sizzle and a beer after the comp – Trophies, certificates and a few bottles of wine up for grabs. Come along – bring your windsufring friends and have a go – should be some pretty awesome sailing going down – especially in the finals.”

“Lets support Wave sailing in SA and have a big turnout – remember to sign up for Windsurfing SA is $40 to cover insurance and $10 for the comp (unfortunately these things aren’t free to organise)”

SA GPS Windsurfing - Summer 2009 - results

Final Results for the SA GPS Summer of Speed proudly sponsored by Starboard.

Well done to SAM DOECKE for winning this event. No surprises that he sailed consistently well throughout the summer to take out the event title.

The competition ran from 1 Dec 2008 to 28 Feb 2009. There were 132 sessions posted during that time, with 19 sailors contributing to the competition by submitting their gps tracks. Of these 19 sailors, 9 were current members of Windsurfing SA, so they are eligible to be recorded in the final results.

Locations sailed during this compeition were: Goolwa, Milang, Lake Bonney, Boggy Lake, Murray Mouth, Lake George, Kingston Park, Chicken Shop, Semaphore, Seacliff Park, Christies Beach and Sellicks Beach.

Sessions posted were David Mossop 16, Meta Sindos 14, Sam Doecke 13, Hamish Bubner 10, Anthony Hamood 8, Simon Lahiff 7, Richard Upton 6, Chris Dimond 6, Tim Hemer 5.
