Lancelin Ocean Classic

October 9, 2010

Most of you would be aware of the Lancelin Ocean Classic, well I am happy to say that the iconic event is looking at its biggest event ever for 2011 (6-9th January). You would also be aware that this is a nonprofit event run by the Lancelin Chamber of Commerce to promote the sport of windsurfing and the town.

The 2011 Lancelin Ocean Classic entries are now open - remember the earlier you enter the better starting position you receive. The 2011 event will be the biggest in its 26 year history so if you have not entered this race why not make 2011 your year. If you have entered before, you know how good the beer tastes when you finish… not to mention the after party. For all event details please go to the new event website www.lancelinoceanclassic.com.au

RSX and Techno Training

October 9, 2010

Just a short note to let you all know the dates and venues for training in around that Sail Down Under events this season.

As part of Yachting Australia’s windsurfing development plan, Brendan Todd will conduct training for Bic Techno 293 and RSX pre Sail Brisbane and Sail Sydney.  After Sail Melbourne he will also have a training camp in Melbourne to build on what’s been learnt over the December racing period.  After Sail Melbourne will be a good time to assess skills and try some new things leading up to National’s both the OAMPS Australian Youth Championship and RSX and Techno Class Nationals later in the year in QLD  at RAYS.

We have been able to bring Sail Melbourne into the fold and have BIC Techno 293 competing alongside other youth and junior classes in the mornings at the World Cup.  Now that all the Sail Down Under events will have both Youth and Senior class represented we should be able to make a good spectacle and have a more racing opportunities for developing sailors.

One-page flyer.

Let Brendan know in advance if your planning to come to any of these so that he can be sure to tell the clubs the numbers expected.

Good Sailing,
Brendan Todd

AWA Sail Number cull – 2010

July 24, 2010

For the 2010-11 season and beyond, non-AUS sail numbers will not be listed in the sail number register, or the Membership List. When a sailor without an AUS number renews their membership they will be issued with a new AUS number.

The standard Cull Rules still apply – if a sailor is unfinancial for 2 consecutive years, their registered sail number may be reallocated.

AWA Sec/Treasurer – John Rohde
